The Edelman Beta Hunt is open for applications until midnight Sunday 26th February. Visit www.areyouthefuture.com.
What is Edelman Beta?
Edelman Beta is Edelman UK’s refreshed graduate scheme. Candidates no longer need to have a degree to apply, as the scheme is open to anyone eligible to work in the UK aged 16+.
On the scheme, successful candidates rotate across different Edelman teams over 12 months, helping them to develop a deep understanding of the business and skills across the marketing mix.
Depending on the individuals, rotations will be tailored to meet candidates’ needs whilst ensuring a broad understanding of the communications landscape and client teams.
What is the process to apply to Edelman Beta?
Each year, Edelman Beta will be marked by a unique test. This year, the test is simple; find the application. To apply, candidates need to complete an online hunt to find codes which unlock application questions. This process is split into three sections, so you don’t need to complete the hunt in one go.
Following the #BetaHunt, there will be telephone conversations and an assessment day in March.
What are you testing on the #BetaHunt?
Edelman is not testing candidates on their speed. During the hunt, candidates need to think laterally to locate clues across Instagram, Snapchat, Youtube and more.
Written application questions are not timed, and test storytelling and creativity.
What if I need help with the #BetaHunt?
If you need help with the #BetaHunt, you can either tweet @EdelmanUK using #BetaHunt, or use the Facebook Chatbot located on the website.
What is required to complete the #BetaHunt?
To complete the online hunt, remain curious and think laterally. You do not have to go anywhere physically or spend any money.
Can I change the answers to my application questions once I have submitted them?
No, once you have submitted a written answer, you will not be able to go back and review it. Make sure you are happy with your answer when you click the submit button.
What happens once I’ve submitted my application?
You will receive a confirmation email that we have received your Edelman Beta application on our website. If you are successful, you will hear from Edelman by the 24th March 2017 with instructions on the next stage.
What is the assessment process following the #BetaHunt?
Once the #BetaHunt stage is complete, successful candidates will be invited to join a telephone conversation. Successful telephone interviewees will then be invited to an assessment day at the Edelman office in London in mid-March which will include numerous activities.
When does the Edelman Beta Scheme start?
The 2017 Beta Scheme will begin on or soon after Monday 4th September 2017.
Do I have to be a graduate to apply?
Edelman Beta is open to anyone eligible to work in the UK aged 16+. There are no academic requirements.
What is the starting salary?
The scheme starting salary is reviewed each year to ensure that we remain competitive. In addition to your basic salary you will receive an excellent benefits package, including travel insurance and competitive annual leave entitlement. We also provide a number of benefits which are non-contractual such as free breakfasts each morning, subsidised massages, free drinks in the company bar every Thursday and an extra day of holiday for your birthday.
Will you consider mature applicants?
Yes. We recruit people from a wide range of backgrounds and ages, and often find that candidates who have had a previous career bring something extra to the agency.
How many candidates do you take on each year?
The number of candidates we will offer to is flexible, but we are likely to take around 10 candidates onto the scheme.
Which teams will I be working in?
You will rotate across several departments such as Brand, Digital, Technology, Health Brands, Planning, Creative, Corporate, and more. Each rotation aims to give you an overall feel of the business and to help you plan your future career path.
How long is the Edelman Beta Scheme for?
The scheme is a 12-month placement.
Will I get a job after Edelman Beta finishes?
We offer permanent positions to everyone on the scheme.
When will I hear if I’ve successfully got a place on the Edelman Beta Scheme?
After the #BetaHunt and online applications, there is a telephone interview and an assessment day stage. Candidates that are selected for Edelman Beta after the assessment day will be told at the start of April 2017. This is subject to change.
How many people are employed by the organisation?
Edelman worldwide employs over 5,500 people in 65 cities. Edelman UK employs over 550 people.
Where is the Edelman office located?
The Edelman offices are located on Victoria Street, London. We have two big, bright offices side by side which both have cafés, a bar and creative spaces.
Are there any other requirements?
All offers are subject to having the right to work in the UK for the duration of the scheme, although your application will be considered even if you do not have this right at the time of application.
What international opportunities are there?
As a global agency, we have a number of client accounts which operate in a number of international markets. This offers the possibility to work and interact with colleagues and clients from around the world. Edelman also offers an international secondment programme, providing you with the opportunity to work abroad. This is available to all staff who meet a pre-defined criterion, such as length of service and business need.
Does Edelman organise any social events?
Absolutely. We have a social committee who organise social events such as parties and fundraising events. Every Thursday we offer a free bar to staff and enjoy a company-wide Christmas party each year. Additionally, each team has budget in the summer and winter to socialise together and we also have a company-funded football, rugby and netball teams.
Do you provide feedback for unsuccessful applicants?
Unfortunately, due to the number of applications we receive for our Scheme, we cannot provide individual feedback to each written applicant. If you are invited to the assessment day in our London office and are not successful, we will provide individual feedback as to why.
Edelman Beta is now closed for applications. Check back later in the year for information regarding the 2018 scheme.
