Jackie Cooper Appointed Global Chair, Creative Strategy for Edelman

NEW YORK, 7th February 2013 – Edelman has named Jackie Cooper global chair, creative strategy, effective immediately. In the newly created position, Cooper, currently global vice-chair of brand strategies at Edelman, will oversee the firm’s creative offering and teams while enhancing Edelman’s creative capabilities across the network. She will report to Richard Edelman, president and CEO, and join the firm’s Executive Committee.

“PR must continue to differentiate itself from all other marketing disciplines as we establish, cultivate and sustain engagement between individuals, brands and organizations,” said Edelman. “To do so, we must ensure that creativity remains at the center of all we do. For 60 years, Edelman has sustained itself with creative and innovative thinking. Establishing this role takes us in the direction of being more than just a part of the communications process and will allow us to become a firm situated at the center of the table leading the communications discussion with clients. Jackie will work to ensure that we continue to deliver the best of creative strategy to clients, while also seizing opportunities that emerge from continued change in the marketplace.”

Cooper is a specialist in brand marketing and has expertise in working with corporate and entertainment properties. She has provided strategic brand counsel on award winning campaigns including the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty and Every Child has the Right to Play for Omo/Persil. Cooper currently provides brand consultancy for Starbucks, Diageo, Shell and Xbox.

“Creativity is a strategic business tool providing the competitive edge for our clients and our firm,” said Cooper. “In these days of a surfeit of information fueled by fast technology, it is our creative thinking that differentiates our work and delivers commercially powerful ideas. With our heritage baked in editorial integrity, we are in an exciting position to continue our role as respected co-producers of irresistible, multi-channel, multi-media content for our clients.”

Cooper joined Edelman in 2004, when Jackie Cooper Public Relations (JCPR), the firm she co-founded in 1987, was acquired by Edelman. In 2007 she was named UK creative director and served as vice chair of Edelman UK, where she devised creative and strategic solutions for a wide cross section of clients. Cooper also established Edelman’s Content offer, which utilized international production and network relationships to develop fully integrated campaigns. Cooper was named global vice chair, brand properties, in 2011.
